BREAKING NEWS: Associated Press/ABC News Article Questions Rep. David Scott Competence Before May 21 Primary

CONYERS, Georgia -- An Associated Press and ABC News report published today questions Rep. David Scott's competence as voters begin early voting in the May 21 Democratic Primary for the 13th Congressional District.  Scott, 78, is seeking his 11th term since he was elected in 2002. AP reporter Jeff Amy examined Scott's lack of physical presence at campaign events, including his failure to participate in the Congressional District 13 candidate debate aired April 28 on Georgia Public Broadcasting.

The AP/ABC News story is the most recent report examining Scott's physical competency. A story by Politico in February reported that many of Scott's congressional colleagues were hoping that he would not run again because of his failing health and inability to perform.

Politico reporters Meredith Lee Hill and Garrett Downs found that “Even in private meetings, Scott frequently reads from a script and at times has trouble carrying out substantive conversations in real time about much of the food and agriculture policy that he oversees, according to more than a dozen lawmakers, congressional staff, lobbyists, and agriculture advocates,”
